The Fifth Xiamen Symposium on Marine Environmental Sciences (XMAS-V) will be held on January 11th–14th, 2021.

Considering the global time difference, a virtual XMAS-V will be organized online for 2 hours per day from January 11th–14th, 2021. Featured online will be Keynote Lectures and a special session on UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.

Whereas XMAS historically requires a registration fee, this year the symposium will be free of charge.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the organizing committee for the 5th Xiamen Symposium on Marine Environmental Sciences (XMAS-V) is officially announcing the change of the physical XMAS-V 2021 in Xiamen, China into a series of online activities. Because we are committed to minimizing the impact of COVID-19 on scientific research and collaboration, we believe the organizing committee has a responsibility and a duty to ensure these activities continue despite the current, extreme circumstances. We have therefore decided to host XMAS-V online to support our community by fostering scientific communication. The activities will include online Keynote Lectures, open discussions, etc. Considering the global time difference, we will only organize online meeting for 2 hours per day during XMAS-V. So, we will not organize online session discussions.

We would like to personally thank all scientists and students for your patience as the organizing committee has navigated this difficult situation. We look forward to virtually meeting during the online activities of XAMS-V!
