PhD,Associate Professor of Department of Bioinformatics & Biotechnology, Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) Faisalabad, Pakistan
Session: Early Career & Graduate Student Workshop
Title: Career planning; the road to success
His research group mainly focuses on isolation, identification and characterization of microalgae and cyanobacteria for bioenergy and high-value industrial products, along with the elucidation of molecular mechanisms involved in algal biomass production and metabolite synthesis. He also studies the impact of abiotic factors for enhanced biomass production and efficient biomass harvesting and intends to develop cost-effective technology for the conserved and sustainable utilization of bio-resources mainly microalgae and cyanobacteria, wastewater treatment and recycling, and biomass-to-bioenergy conversion. His research has been supported by various funding agencies including Higher Education Commission, Pakistan (02 projects), International Foundation for Science, Sweden (01 project), The World Academy of Sciences, Italy (01 project), and National Natural Science Foundation of China (01 project). Meanwhile, he has established international collaborations with eminent research groups working in Chinese, Canadian, Saudi, Thai, Turkish and Jordanian Universities. He has post-doctoral research experience at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China. He has authored/co-authored fifty-three (53) research/review articles (with ~136 IF) in peer reviewed journals and nine (09) book chapters. He has been awarded Research Productivity Award for the year 2011, 2012 and 2014 by Pakistan Council for Science & Technology and Young Leaders Award 2017 by Positive Pakistan to acknowledge his contributions. Moreover, he is also honored with the highest province-level academic title in China “The Distinguished Expert” under 1000 Talent Plan of Sichuan government, China. Since 2011, 01 Ph.D. and 21 MS students graduated from his lab who are now working in American, Chinese, European and Pakistani Universities. At present, 05 Ph.D. candidates and 06 Masters students are working in his research group. |
