Oral Presentation
- Keynote speeches are 40 minutes each, including 5 minutes for Q&A and 5 minutes for an introductory video.
- All other talks are 20 minutes each*, including at least 5 minutes for discussion. The time limit will be strictly enforced to facilitate flow between sessions.
In-Person
- Please upload your presentation to the XMAS-VI computers prior to your session. Only PowerPoint, KEYNOTE, and PDF files will be accepted. All files will be erased after the symposium. symposium.
- For those attendees arriving on Jan 8, you may upload them directly to our computer at the registration area.
- For all others, you must upload your presentations at least one hour before your session, directly onto the computers in your session's conference room. Volunteers will be on hand to assist should you run into difficulties.
- To ensure the fluency of the symposium, speakers are not allowed to use their own computers.
- Arrive at the session room 10 minutes before the start of your session and introduce yourself to the session chair(s).
- No audio or video recording is allowed in any session room during the symposium.
Online
- Use a PC or laptop instead of a mobile phone if possible; an Ethernet connection instead of WI-FI is recommended to guarantee the security and stability of the network.
- Turn off your camera if the network connection is poor;
* Presentations of Tutorial will be 1 hour and 40 minutes, Workshop-02 and Workshop-03 will be 2 hours and 20 minutes in length.

Poster Presentation
- Posters (PDF, size<5MB) should be uploaded under your XMAS registration account before Jan 7, 2023 (UTC+8).
- All posters will be posted on the XMAS-VI website from Jan 9-12, 2023 (UTC+8).
- IDs that begin with “S” are posters presented by graduate students.
Poster Online LIghtning Talks (POLIT)
Online lightning talks are held in the conference rooms from 1650-1750 on Jan. 9 and 1610-1730 on Jan. 10 (UTC+8).
- Posters will be sorted according to the program.
- The lightning talk slide should be uploaded under your XMAS registration account before Jan 7, 2023 (UTC+8). Use ONE slide to summarize the main results. You can record the presentations (2 minutes max) on the slide.
- The presentations will be lined up ahead of time on a single computer and will be played non-stop.
- Live discussions will be held immediately thereafter.
Onsite Poster Session
- Jan. 11 ONLY. Location: FuYuan Hall. Time: 1410-1750
- Those who want to display their posters on-site should check “In person” in the field of “Attend XMAS-VI” under their XMAS-VI accounts.
- Each onsite poster will be assigned an ID corresponding to its location on the display board.
- Poster dimensions should not exceed 110 cm (height) and 90 cm (width) and should be in portrait orientation.
- The text should be readable from five feet away. Use a minimum font size of 20 points.
- We recommend that in-person poster presenters hang their posters before the afternoon sessions on Jan. 11 (UTC+8). They must be removed at the end of the session (1750).
- The in-person poster presenters should be available for the onsite poster session on Jan. 11 (1610-1750)
Best Student Poster Award
- All student posters will be presented virtually at the scheduled time following live discussion. Students are expected to discuss their posters during online poster sessions.
- Best student posters will be selected by the review committee. Winners will receive a 2000 RMB prize from XMAS.
Language
- English is the official language of the symposium. PowerPoint slides and posters should be in English. Oral talks should also be presented in English.
Presentation Tips
- Oral presenters may visit the conference room to familiarize themselves with the equipment or ask technical questions.
- Prepare your presentation in advance so that your ideas are logically organized, and your points are clear.
- Rehearse your presentation to ensure your presentation runs no longer than the allotted time. We will be strict on time.
- Use 1 or 2 slides to introduce the background of the study. Speak slowly and clearly. Word choice should be as simple as possible. Use active words and short sentences.
- Use the microphone and speak to the audience.
